Holy Snow Batman - Week 3 of 52

We had another week of snow days.  Both Ryan and I kinda managed to get our stuff done.  The house is trashed and covered in some sort of ick made of dust, cheese cracker crumbs, animal hair, crayon bits, and tiny legos.

In a moment of madness, I thought it would be fun to make oobleck with the kids.  In the kitchen, where it would get flung all over the place.   It’s amateur hour over here folks.  I should have just doubled down and served rice and couscous for lunch paired with overfull glasses of some sort of chemical drink mix in bright red.

For future reference, it does sweep up pretty well once it’s dried out, and it’s not too hard to clean up otherwise.  HOWEVER, once I came to my senses, we did it again but this time in the bathtub.  Bonus, it was 500x more fun and I got a whole freaking hour of the kids playing together to mitigate some of the damage done to the house by having four humans, five cats, and a dog in permanent residence for three days.

To keep us from going all Lord of the Flies To pass the time we danced, played in the snow, ate fondue (which is French for cheese dip), baked cookies, bread, and dog biscuits.  We made Valentines (YAY Arts and Craps!! with Bonus Glitter Fun!!), staged epic battles with Batman and put bad guys in the “criminal jar”, read stories, shot slow motion video of the dog and the kids, used the spooner boards both indoors and out, worked on our circus tricks, made up silly songs, and watched way less TV and played way less video games then we did last week since even the kids are tired of being plugged in.  Zane even helped Ferris figure out how to get up into Zane’s bunk bed, but failed to teach him how to get down which was an intriguing tactic.

All in all it was a good break, but THANK ALL THAT IS HOLY IN THE UNIVERSE the kids are back in school today.  Except it’s Friday, so we've got another two days of rattling around the house in the queue.  Stupid snow.

P.S.  While looking for some “Rock-n-Roll” for the kids in our catalog we discovered that Zane digs the Ramons and the Clash, while Ferris likes Big D and the Kids Table, which despite the name is NOT a kids band and is totally awesome. We listened to this song roughly 4,256 times.
